
KOICA-supported digital training to kick off at SU in August
The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Digital Transformation Center, located on the third floor of the Silliman University (SU) College of Business Administration (CBA), will hold its first phase of free big data, business analytics, and AI training for the local youth and job seekers in Negros Oriental on August 4-29, 2025.
This free training will be delivered by Hannam University instructors with Korean Government support through Official Development Assistance.
The training course preparation was jointly prepared by Hannam University, SU’s CBA, the Technical Educational Vocational and Entrepreneurial Center (TEVEC), and the Information Communication Technology (ICT) Association of Dumaguete and Negros Oriental, represented by its president, Dr. Suzanne Lu Bascara.
The completers will receive training certificates from Hannam University and SU.
While the works for the KOICA DX Center are still in progress, the said training will be conducted at the SU TEVEC computer laboratory, according to Dr. Wilma Tejero-Libarios, CBA dean and local project coordinator.
The free training on big data, business analytics, and AI is open to 20 slots. To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. Must be at least college level
2. Must have English and communication proficiency
3. Must have basic computer skills
4. Must submit a fully accomplished Application Form with:
a. One (1) passport-size photo (with collar and white background)
b. Photocopy of Birth Certificate
c. Photocopy of Transcript of Records or Diploma
The 20 accepted applicants will receive a modest daily allowance for 20 days. Participants may avail of only one slot. The training will be from Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for 20 days starting on August 4.
The deadline for submission of applications is July 24, 2025.
