
SU to honor 13 Heritage Builders
Silliman University, through the Organizational Development and Human Resource Management Office, will pay tribute to 13 former employees who have left a lasting mark on the institution as Heritage Builders. The recognition ceremony will be held on August 26, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in Silliman Hall.
This year’s honorees are:
- Dr. Angel C. Alcala, SU President, Trustee, and Professor Emeritus
- Alejandra R. Bañas, Faculty Member, High School English Department
- Prof. Eliseo P. Bañas, University Librarian
- Engr. Juan Escarda, Dean of the College of Engineering and Interim President
- Dr. Charles R. Hamilton, Acting President
- Edith Alice Hamilton, Home Economics Teacher
- Dr. Josefa M. Ilano, Trustee Chair Emeritus
- Rev. Leon C. Hills, Mission Pioneer
- Dr. Agustin A. Pulido, SU President, Trustee, and Professor Emeritus
- Teresita A. Rodriguez, Social Secretary, Office of the President
- Julio O. Sy, Trustee and Faculty Member
- Calinico B. Tolentino, Clerk and Photographer, Office of Information and Publications
- Col. Roman T. Yap, Trustee and Chair Emeritus
Since 2007, Silliman has set aside time each Founders Day to recognize faculty and staff whose dedicated service forms part of the University’s enduring legacy. Known as Heritage Builders, they embody the spirit of commitment and loyalty that has sustained the institution across generations.
Each year, around ten individuals are chosen for this honor, all of whom have served Silliman University for at least a decade. The program highlights those who contributed significantly in the University’s earlier years, ensuring their legacy remains an integral part of Silliman’s story.
