
Aggies student wins reg’l organic agriculture quiz bee, heads to nationals

Kriza V. Banua, a Level II student of the Silliman University College of Agriculture (SUCoA), emerged as champion of the Regional Kabataang Organic Agriculture (OA) Quiz Bee held on November 7, 2025, at the ATI-RTC VII Complex in Cabawan District, Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Banua competed against delegates from agriculture schools across Region VII, including Silliman University, Negros Oriental State University, Foundation University, Cebu Technological University, and Bohol Island State University, in a face-to-face quiz bee featuring Easy, Moderate, and Difficult rounds.
The competition formed part of the 11th Organic Agriculture Nationwide Activity, anchored on the theme “Kabuhayang OA, Kinabukasang OK! Halina at Kumita sa Organikong Agrikultura!” The event aimed to promote organic agriculture among the youth and highlight opportunities in sustainable farming.
Banua was coached by Ms. Marjorie D. Hoylar, SUCoA faculty member, and received a ₱15,000 cash prize, a medal, a token, and a plaque of recognition during the awarding ceremony.
As regional champion, Banua will represent Region VII in the National OA Quiz Bee Competition to be held in Manila on November 24–25, 2025, where she will compete with winners from all regions nationwide.
