Commission on Filipinos Overseas visits SU prexy ahead of migration education symposium

On November 18, 2025, representatives from the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), namely Ms. Judy A. Oaing, Ms. Graciel D. Pangeriban-Mayron, and Ms. Anarabel Gara, paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Betty Cernol McCann, Silliman University president, at the Office of the President.
The visit underscored the CFO’s ongoing efforts to engage communities and strengthen public awareness on migration issues.
Following the courtesy call, the CFO is planning to launch its yearly Community Education Program on Migration in Negros Oriental at Silliman University.
The program aims to equip prospective migrants and the wider community with knowledge on responsible migration, government programs, and legal safeguards against illegal recruitment, documentation fraud, and human trafficking.
Through assemblies, school symposia, and community consultations, the CFO continues to promote informed decision-making and active participation in migration-related initiatives across the province.
The symposium, which was initially scheduled on November 4, had to be cancelled because of Typhoon Tino. The CFO will be rescheduling the event to another date.
Meanwhile, Novee Maestrecampo Jr., Office of Community Engagement and Service-Learning (OCESL) director, facilitated the CFO’s visit to the SU president.
