
SU CVAARRDEC officials meet to ensure continued research collaboration amid reg’l realignment

Officials of the Central Visayas Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CVAARRDEC) paid a courtesy visit to Silliman University on January 28, 2026, at the SU Boardroom Annex.
The meeting, attended by SU’s vice president for Academic Affairs and Research (VPAAR) Dr. Lily Ann D. Bautista; executive director for Research, Publications, and Innovation (RPI) Dr. Robert S. Guino-o II; Bohol Island State University (BISU) Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension and CVAARRDEC Consortium Director Dr. Ivy Corazon Mangaya-ay; Extension Division Director and CVAARRDEC Deputy Director Dr. Lloyd L. Tejano; and BISU research and CVAARRDEC project staff Leven Bentulan and Maria Geneva Cait, focused on the monitoring and evaluation of a DOST–PCAARRD project on the conservation and breeding of the Philippine spotted deer, SU’s consortium membership status following the regional realignment of Negros Oriental, and SU’s participation in a consortium-led ICT project.
It can be noted that the monitoring and evaluation of the DOST-PCAARD Project “Enhancing the Conservation and Breeding Program of the Philippine Spotted Deer, Rusa alfredi Using Molecular Approaches” under the research and development team of Guino-o, Dr. Aye Mee Bartocillo, Dr. Nadia P. Abesamis, and Asst. Prof. Persie Sienes of SU’s Biology Department.
A key highlight of the discussion was ensuring a smooth transition that will allow Negros Oriental–based higher education institutions to continue participating in CVAARRDEC activities throughout 2026, pending the full establishment of the NISR-AARRDEC.
