Korean gov’t-backed KOICA DX Center to hold second-phase big data and AI training at SU
The Korean Government-supported Korean International Cooperation Agency Digital Transformation Center (KOICA DX Center) at Silliman University will conduct the second phase of its free foundational big data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) training for local youth in Negros Oriental from February 16 to March 20, 2026. The training targets job-seeking youth, including persons with disabilities (PWDs) and other vulnerable groups, as part of Korea’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) initiatives aimed at strengthening digital skills and employability in partner communities.
The program will be delivered by professors from Hannam University, in collaboration with four SU business analytics and IT faculty members who recently completed the KOICA Trainer Training Program held on January 26–30, 2026. According to Dr. Wilma Tejero-Libarios, dean of the SU College of Business Administration (CBA) and local project coordinator, program completers will receive certificates jointly issued by Hannam University and Silliman University.
To further enhance participants’ employability, KOICA will also sponsor scholarships that will allow training completers to undergo additional skills training at the SU Technical Educational, Vocational and Entrepreneurial Center (SU-TEVEC) and qualify for National Certificate II (NC II) credentials from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. Limited to 20 participants, the foundational training will be held at the newly established KOICA DX Center located at Room 313 of the SU CBA Building.
