
PACPH president pays courtesy visit to SU president

Dr. Betty Cernol McCann, Silliman University (SU) president, received Vicente Y. Belizario Jr., MD, president of the Philippine Academic Consortium for Public Health (PACPH), during a courtesy visit held on campus on February 10, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM.
Belizario was accompanied by Dr. Mae Brigitt Bernadel L. Villordon, assistant to the President for Institutional Affairs and PACPH vice president; Prof. Josie Siega-Sur and Dr. Evalyn E. Abalos, coordinators of the Silliman University Center of Leadership Excellence in Nursing (CoLEN).
During the meeting, Belizario shared the vision and direction of PACPH and discussed the significance of SU’s engagement with the consortium, particularly in relation to national efforts to strengthen public health education, research, and service.
Belizario is a professor and former dean of the College of Public Health of the University of the Philippines Manila. He has previously served as Vice Chancellor for Research at UP Manila and as Undersecretary of the Department of Health. He currently leads PACPH, a national network of higher education institutions working collaboratively to advance public health education, research, and public service in the Philippines.
Established in 2022, the PACPH brings together academic institutions committed to strengthening public health capacity through responsive curricula, collaborative research, and community-oriented service. SU is a founding member of the consortium.
