For her foundational leadership, steadfast advocacy, and lifelong commitment to uplifting the Filipino community in Fairbanks and throughout Alaska, Outstanding Sillimanian Awardee (OSA) Engr. Elizabeth Merto Engle was conferred the Legacy Award by the Filipino-American Society of Fairbanks, Inc. at the 21st Annual Valentine’s Founders Day Ball on February 7, 2026, at the Wedgewood Resort Ballroom.

The Legacy Award honors individuals who embody the values and vision of the Fil-Am Society of Fairbanks founders—leadership rooted in service, integrity, and a deep commitment to community. This award recognizes those who helped build something meant to last: fostering connection, mentoring others, and strengthening the foundation of the Filipino American community in Fairbanks.

The Legacy Award is not only a recognition of past contributions but a celebration of enduring impact—leadership that continues to shape the organization, inspire future generations, and carry forward the spirit in which Fil-Am Fairbanks was created.

With an estimated 300 Filipino-Americans residing in Fairbanks, Engle continues to play an active role in fostering community engagement while also serving as a Trustee of the Silliman Alumni Association, Inc. (SAAI).

Engle graduated from Silliman University High School (SUHS) in 1958 and earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree in 1963, also at Silliman.
