The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), through the Professional Regulatory Board of Accountancy (PRBOA), conducted an inspection and monitoring of the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy program of Silliman University’s College of Business Administration on March 25, 2026.
The evaluation team was led by PRBOA Chair Noe G. Quiñanola, with assistance from Merry Joy B. Maata of PRC Dumaguete City. The activity aimed to assess the University’s compliance with laws, standards, and best practices governing the accountancy profession.
The monitoring forms part of the PRC’s mandate under Republic Act No. 8981 and Republic Act No. 9298, which task the Board to ensure the quality and integrity of accountancy education and practice. It is further guided by PRC Resolution No. 1471 s. 2021, which provides mechanisms for inspection, evaluation, and enforcement of professional standards.
The PRBOA team was formally welcomed by Dr. Robert E. Guino-o, officer-in-charge of the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research and executive director for Research, Publications, and Innovation; Dr. Wilma Tejero-Libarios, dean of the SU CBA; and Loren Ann C. Lachica, chair of the Accountancy Department, together with the faculty members.

They were likewise received by key University officials, including Dr. Edna T. Calingacion, dean of Student Services; Engr. Debonaire T. Mamhot, chief of Facilities Management and Administrative Services; Bernie Z. Aranas, program coordinator of the Office of Quality Instruction and Excellence; and Rosalina G. Dinoy, University librarian, along with her team.
The visit included a welcome program, a presentation on the University’s accountancy program, a roundtable discussion, and a comprehensive assessment using the PRBOA evaluation tool. It concluded with a courtesy call on University President Betty Cernol McCann.
Overall, the inspection affirmed the University’s alignment with regulatory standards and underscored its continuing commitment to quality assurance and excellence in accountancy education.
