SU swimmer bags Gold, Silver at 2026 Palarong Pambansa

Silliman University Senior High School student-athlete Kacie Gabrielle Marcelino Tionko added another milestone to her distinguished swimming career after winning one gold medal and one silver medal at the 2026 Palarong Pambansa held May 24 to 31, 2026 in Agusan del Sur.
Representing the Negros Island Region (NIR), Tionko competed in the secondary swimming events of the country’s premier annual sports competition for student-athletes. She secured a gold medal in the 4×100-meter Freestyle Relay and a silver medal in the 400-meter Freestyle event.
The achievement further cements Tionko’s reputation as a standout swimmer, marking her fourth consecutive appearance as a medal-winning athlete in the Palarong Pambansa.
The 66th Palarong Pambansa was hosted by the Province of Agusan del Sur, the first time the national games were held in the province and the first return of the event to the Caraga Region. This year’s competition gathered 13,247 student-athletes from 20 delegations, including the country’s 18 regional athletic associations, the National Academy of Sports, and Philippine Schools Overseas, competing in 35 sports and para-sports disciplines.
Tionko’s latest accomplishment adds to the growing list of achievements by Sillimanian athletes on the national stage.
