Position Summary

The Director provides strategic, academic, entrepreneurial, and operational leadership for the Dr. Mariano C. Lao Global Studies Center of Silliman University, which was established to extend the University’s educational reach beyond its physical campus by developing and delivering accessible, high-quality short courses, certificate programs, executive education, and other non-degree learning opportunities through virtual, hybrid, and other appropriate modes.

He/ she is responsible for sustaining a dynamic and financially sustainable platform for global learning, professional development, public engagement, and institutional partnerships. The Director leads program development, business planning, marketing, partnership-building, technology-enabled delivery, financial stewardship, and the continuing development of the Center’s facilities and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and entrepreneurial leadership for the Dr. Mariano C. Lao Global Studies Center, positioning it as a dynamic and sustainable platform for global and continuing education.

• Lead in the development, launch, and continuous improvement of innovative short courses, certificate programs, executive education, and other non-degree offerings, including virtual and hybrid programs.

• Build strategic partnerships and networks with universities, industry, government, professional organizations, alumni, foundations, experts, and international institutions.

• Propel the Center’s business development, marketing, enrollment, and resource-generation initiatives, including grants, sponsorships, donations, partnerships, and other mission-aligned revenue opportunities.

• Oversee the operations, people, technology, facilities, financial resources, and performance, ensuring quality, accountability, sustainability, and alignment with the University’s mission and strategic priorities.

Qualifications

• At least a master’s degree in a field relevant to the Center’s mandate

• Experience developing and managing educational, professional-development, or continuing-education programs

• Working knowledge of online, hybrid, or technology-enabled learning

• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills

• Strong integrity and commitment to the vision, mission, and values of Silliman University

Preferred Qualifications

• Progressively responsible experience, preferably including leadership or managerial roles

• Experience developing online, hybrid, certificate, short-course, or micro-credential programs

• Experience in business development, program marketing, enrollment growth, and revenue-generating or financially sustainable programs

• Leadership experience in higher education, continuing education, digital learning, international education, executive education, or a comparable setting

• Established networks with academic, professional, industry, government, or international institutions

• Demonstrated ability in strategic planning, project and budget management, partnership-building, and stakeholder engagement

• Doctoral degree in a relevant field is an advantage
