College of Agriculture is hiring one Laboratory Farm Supervisor

The College of Agriculture is hiring a Laboratory Farm Supervisor who will be responsible for the technical and operational management of the College’s instructional and research farm, ensuring that farm facilities, resources, personnel, and activities effectively support instruction, research, extension, demonstration, and sustainable agricultural production.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the day-to-day operations of the instructional and research farm, including crop, livestock, and other agricultural activities.

• Develop and implement farm production and operational plans in coordination with the Dean and concerned faculty, taking into account instructional, research, extension,demonstration, and experiential learning requirements

• Ensure that farm facilities, demonstration areas, research plots, equipment, and otherresources are available and properly maintained for instructional and research use.

• Coordinate and provide technical support for student laboratory, field, practicum,research, and experiential-learning activities conducted on the farm.

• Supervise farm operations personnel, and other assigned workers.

• Supervise the maintenance of appropriate farm production, inventory, equipment, input, and operational records.

• Monitor the proper use and maintenance of agricultural machinery, tools, irrigation systems, and farm facilities.

• Implement appropriate standards for occupational safety, biosecurity, environmental protection, animal welfare, and responsible use of agricultural inputs.

• Assist in planning and monitoring farm budgets, procurement requirements, production costs, and resource utilization.

• Coordinate with faculty members conducting research, demonstrations, extension activities, and student projects on the farm.

• Support sustainable, climate-responsive, and appropriate agricultural technologies and practices.

• Perform other related functions necessary for the effective operation of the College’s instructional and research farm.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, preferably with specialization in Agronomy or Animal Science or other closely related fields;

• Preferably with an active PRC License in Agriculture (or at least aligned Certificationsand/ or technical trainings as additional qualifications);

• Relevant experience in farm operations, agricultural production, research or demonstration farms, or related agricultural work;

• Experience in supervising farm personnel or coordinating agricultural operations is an advantage;

• Appropriate training in farm safety, agricultural machinery, crop/livestock production, or related technical areas is an advantage.

Preferred Competencies

The successful applicant should demonstrate:

• Knowledge of integrated farm operations and agricultural production systems;

• Competence in crop production and/or livestock production;

• Ability to plan, organize, and monitor farm activities and production schedules;

• Familiarity with agricultural research plots, field experiments, demonstration activities, and instructional farm requirements;

• Knowledge of farm machinery, equipment, irrigation, and basic facility maintenance;

• Understanding of occupational safety, biosecurity, environmental protection, and sustainable agricultural practices;

• Ability to supervise and develop farm personnel;

• Competence in inventory, documentation, production records, and basic farm cost monitoring; and

• Ability to work effectively with faculty members, students, researchers, extension personnel, and farm workers.

The Laboratory Farm Supervisor works under the supervision of the Dean, College of Agriculture and collaborates closely with faculty members to ensure that farm operations support the College’s academic, research, extension, and experiential-learning objectives.
