Sillimanians Take New Leadership Roles in the Education Sector
Silliman alumnus, Dr. Joy Molina Mirasol takes her oath as the 3rd president of Bukidnon State University before CHED Commissioner Jo Mark M. Libre, last February 14, 2023 in Quezon City after the Board of Regents picked her over two other contenders. Dr. Mirasol was Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovation at Bukidnon State University before her new appointment as president. Dr. Mirasol earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Silliman University in 1989.

Another Sillimanian, Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo, has recently assumed the presidency of Siquijor State College. Dr. Sumaylo was Vice President for Research and Extension at Siquijor State College before assuming his new appointment as president. Dr. Sumaylo took up his Bachelor of Science in Education major in English and graduated in 1993 from Silliman University.
