Alumni Update March 27 – April 2, 2023

Dr. Dely Po Go, Outstanding Sillimanian Awardee (OSA), will make history by serving as the 125th Philippine Independence Day Parade Grand Marshal on two continents: New York City and Milan, Italy, this June 2023.

She is also the 2023 Philippine-American Friendship Community (PAFCOM) Parade Grand Marshal of the Philippine-American Friendship Day Parade in Jersey City, New Jersey.

The Philippine Independence Day Parade in New York City, known as the world’s largest Philippine Independence parade outside the Philippines, takes place annually in the United States along Madison Avenue in the Manhattan borough. The parade is held on the first Sunday in June. Its main purpose is to create awareness of Philippine culture and to raise funds for charity projects in the Philippines and the United States.

The Silliman University Alumni Association of New York-New Jersey (SUAANYNJ) is a yearly participant in the New York City Philippine Independence Day Parade.

A well-respected humanitarian, philanthropist, community leader, and nurse, Go is the recipient of the Gerry Roxas Leadership Award. She is also a Woman of Peace Awardee for helping disadvantaged children around the world; Sinag Lahi Awardee; trustee at multiple boards; educator; entrepreneur; and president-elect of the Hiraya Foundation for Filipino-American Heritage Preservation, Inc.

Go has become one of the most trusted members of the Filipino community. She is on the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Nurses Association of New Jersey.

According to a report published in the Business Mirror, Go will elevate the role of 125th Philippine Independence Day Parade Grand Marshal in Milan by working with Consul General Elmer G. Cato, the immediate past consul general in New York, in sponsoring projects in culture, technology, environment, and education that will impact the lives of Filipino Migrant workers within the jurisdiction of the Philippine Consulate in Milan.

Go graduated summa cum laude with her doctorate degree. She graduated with a degree in BS Nursing in 1978 from Silliman University and was recognized as an OSA in the field of Entrepreneurship in Nursing in 2013.
