Drs. Hubert and Harriet Reynolds’ son visits Silliman

Dr. Douglas Robertson Reynolds, son of the late Presbyterian missionary couple Drs. Hubert and Harriet Reynolds, visited Silliman University last May 21 together with his wife Aizhen Sun. The visit to the campus where he grew up was a dream come true for Dr. Reynolds after he was given the green light by his doctors to travel to the Philippines. A visit to the Anthropology Museum, the former Reynolds home on campus, Silliman Hall, and the Romeo P. Ariniego Art Gallery highlighted the Reynolds’ tour of Silliman. Dr. Douglas Reynolds and Dr. Romeo P. Ariniego, Outstanding Sillimanian awardee and Order of Horace Brinsmade Silliman inductee, were classmates in elementary school in Vigan, Ilocos Sur in the 1950s.

Dr. Hubert Reynolds was instrumental in the establishment of the Silliman University Anthropology Museum in 1970. Meanwhile, Dr. Harriet Reynolds was a professor at the Sociology-Anthropology Department.

(L-R) Ruben N. Bokingo, Silliman University Alumni Affairs Director together with Prof. Jane Annette L. Belarmino, Silliman University Vice President for Development, present a copy of the Handulantaw coffee table book as a gift to Dr. Douglas Robertson Reynolds and his wife Aizhen Sun. Dr. Hubert and Harriet Reynolds are among the 50 Sillimanian Movers of culture and the arts featured in the book.
