Austrian group eyes cost-free nursing education collaboration with SU

Silliman University (SU) President Dr. Betty Cernol McCann welcomed representatives of the Life Concepts & Generations – Support and Educational Association Austria during a courtesy visit and exploratory meeting held on November 21, 2025, at the SU Boardroom Annex.

The discussion centered on the association’s proposed social–educational initiative that aims to provide cost-free European-standard nursing education to underserved Filipino youth and offer pathways for professional opportunities in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.

Joining McCann were Dr. Mae Brigitt Bernadel L. Villordon, assistant to the president for Institutional Affairs; Glynnis Jean C. Casiño, OIC for Strategic Partnerships and Enterprise Development; and Dr. Theorose June Q. Bustillo, dean of the College of Nursing, alongside Dr. Evalyn E. Abalos and Dr. Jusie Lydia Siega-Sur, Dr. Luz Sobong-Porter Center of Leadership Excellence in Nursing co-directors.

The Austrian delegation was composed of Dr. Peter Payer, association president; Gunter Mayer, general manager of the Don Bosco Mission Austria; Leah Samson, deputy director of the Projects Development Office of the Don Bosco Provincial House in Cebu City; and Fr. Alan Ross Banogon, provincial economer of Don Bosco–Cebu.
