Business student declared champion in regional impromptu business speech competition

Enrica Marian Dinopol, a third-year Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Major in Business Economics student of Silliman University College of Business Administration (CBA), won as champion of the Regional Inter-University Impromptu Business Speech Competition last November 9, 2023.

The competition was one of the highlights during the 2023 Council of Management Educators and Professionals in the Philippines (COMEPP) Regional Conference held last November 9 -10, 2023 at Sierra Hotel, Dumaguete City.

Dinopol made an impromptu business speech based on the question, “How can a business student be kept relevant even amidst the rise of technology?”

“It was an honor to discuss my personal experience in making a strong impact in society by keeping corporate responsibility alive despite the advancement of technology. I believe that it was not just a competition to test my knowledge but rather an opportunity to share the relevance of the youth,” said Dinopol.

Dinopol is also the current president of the Silliman University Student Government.

Dr. Wilma Tejero-Libarios, CBA dean, said Dinopol will represent Region 7 in the national competition during the COMEPP National Conference, to be held this year in Baguio City.

“It is our goal at the College of Business Administration to make our business students relevant and competitive in today’s world. One of these is exposing them to business speech competitions, research conferences, and business case analysis competitions, [whether] local or international,” said Tejero-Libarios.

Meanwhile, Asst. Prof. Leonidas Cañete and Asst. Prof. Myla Jean Sardan, CBA faculty members, were elected as COMEPP Vice-President and member of the board (BOD) for the Visayas Chapter, respectively.

Moreover, Jan Erick Angel, a third-year BSBA Major in Operations Management student, was elected as president of the Business Management Association of the Philippines – Central Visayas Chapter; while Zipporah Shekinah Labang, BSBA Major in Operations Management student, and Lia Nicole Bungabong, BSBA Major in Marketing student, were elected as members of the board.
