The Silliman University Campus Choristers advances to the national finals of the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) after making it through the semi-finals for the Visayas held September 16 on the Silliman campus.
Led by conductor Asst. Prof. Mark Ian A. Caballes of the College of Performing and Visual Arts, the Campus Choristers goes up against top choral groups from around the country in November at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Silliman hosted the two-day NAMCYA event on campus. First was a workshop on traditional Filipino music facilitated by Prof. Felipe de Leon Jr., chairman of the National Commission for Cultural and the Arts; and second was the Visayas regional semi-finals for choir and rondalla ensemble.
