College of Arts and Sciences – English and Literature Department is now accepting applications for the following degrees for SY 2024-2025

The Silliman University College of Arts and Sciences – English and Literature Department is now accepting applications for the following degrees for SY 2024-2025:

1. Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing
2. Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies
3. Bachelor of Arts in Literary and Cultural Studies

Qualified applicants may proceed with the enrollment procedures through the Silliman University Application Portal.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

The English and Literature Department accepts senior high school graduates coming from any of the four (4) Academic Tracks: GAS, ABM, STEAM, and HUMSS.

A. Entering first-year students must:

1. Have a general average of 85% or better
2. Have a grade of 88 or higher in all English subjects: RWS, OC, EAPP, 21st Century Literature, EAPP, RDL 1 and 2, and, if applicable, Creative Writing, and Creative Nonfiction.
3. Comply with all needed requirements as specified by the Admissions Office.
4. For BA in Creative Writing applicants, after completing the online enrollment at the university level, submit physical copies of two creative works (poems, stories, or creative nonfiction pieces) alongside a notarized certification of original content to the English and Literature Department. Remember you only need to submit at least two creative works from any of the genres—poetry, fiction, or creative nonfiction.

B. Transferees and shiftees must:

1. Submit a copy of your transcript of records for transferees and grades printout for shiftees to the department.
2. For BA in Creative Writing applicants, submit physical copies of two creative works (poems, stories, or creative nonfiction pieces) alongside a notarized certification of original content to the English and Literature Department.
3. Qualify through an interview at the department.
4. Comply with all needed requirements as specified by the Admissions Office.
5. Achieve a QPA of 2.5 or higher and attain a 2.5 grade or higher for all English subjects within the one-semester probationary period to be retained in the program.
