Dr. Calumpong attends UN gathering  in New York

This was taken during the meeting of the Group of Experts of the Regular Process for Global Reporting and Assessment of the State of the Marine Environment, including Socioeconomic Aspects (the “Regular Process”). The meeting was organized by the United Nations, held from August 5 to 9, 2019 at United Nations Headquarters in New York. As a member of the Group of Experts, Dr. Hilconida Calumpong (front row, third from right) was invited to participate in the meeting.

The meeting was convened in accordance with the program of work for period 2017 to 2020 for the second cycle of the Regular Process, which was adopted by the Ad Hoc Working Group of the Whole on the Regular Process during its seventh meeting in September 2016, and endorsed by the General Assembly through its resolution 71/257 of 23 December 2016 on “Oceans and the law of the sea”.
