General surgeon Dr. Mark Artemio Taburaza Reyes is Junior High dedication & moving-up ceremony speaker

Dr. Mark Artemio Taburaza Reyes is a General Surgeon specializing in Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgery. He is currently the only Surgeon Endoscopist in Negros Island and is affiliated with both Silliman University Medical Center and Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City. He is certified by the Philippine Board of Surgery and the Philippine Board of Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery and is dedicated to providing the highest quality care to his patients.

Dr. Reyes is a true red Sillimanian. He spent his formative years in the University – from Early Childhood School to graduating cum laude in Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. He also obtained the Philippine Association of Schools of Medical Technology and Public Health (PASMETH) Gold Medal for graduating with the highest grade point average for the Silliman University Medical Technology Class of 2004. He then took and passed the Medical Technology Board Examination later that year.

Dr. Reyes pursued his Medical Degree at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, where he developed a deep appreciation for the operating theater. After passing the Physician Licensure Examination, he completed his General Surgery training at The Medical City in Metro Manila. He then proceeded with Surgical Endoscopy subspecialty training at The Rizal Medical Center before finally settling in Dumaguete City.

Among his numerous accomplishments and accolades, Dr. Reyes considers his family his greatest. He is married to Dr. Tanya Ramas-Uypitching a board-certified Dermatologist and Director of TRU Dermatologie in Dumaguete City. They have two daughters -Timirka and Tiarna. He is the son of Atty. Artemio Reyes and Dr. Verna Reyes, a practicing Ob-Gyn and current Medical Director of the Silliman University Medical Center. He has a sister, Dr. Shastine Reyes, who is a cosmetic surgeon based in Metro Manila. Making memories while traveling around the world with his family is his favorite pastime.

Dr. Reyes is an active consultant and a member of the Silliman University Medical Center Surgery Residency Training staff. He is involved in the teaching and nurturing of aspiring physicians and surgeons. He also is the only Dumagueteño inducted as preceptor of the Philippine Association of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeons and examiner of the Philippine Board of Surgery.

The Silliman University (SU) Junior High School Department Dedication and Moving-Up Ceremony is slated for May 15, 2025 (Thursday), 3:00 PM, at the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium.
