
Neurosurgeon Dr. Dean Carlo S. Dumalagan is Senior High School department’s graduation ceremony speaker
Dr. Dean Carlo S. Dumalagan is a proud Sillimanian and a distinguished neurosurgeon currently serving as a consultant in multiple hospitals across Negros Oriental, including the Silliman University Medical Center, ACE Doctors Dumaguete, Holy Child Hospital, and the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital, among others.
He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Silliman University Medical School in 2013, graduating seventh in his class. Before that, he also completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Silliman, graduating as a class honor and academic scholar. During his nursing years, he earned both local and national recognition, including a third-place award from the Stroke Society of the Philippines for his research, and the Best Student Research Award from the Silliman University College of Nursing.
After passing the Physician Licensure Exam in 2014, Dr. Dumalagan trained at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City, completing his residency in neurosurgery and serving as Chief Resident. He passed the diplomate examinations of the Philippine Board of Neurological Surgery in 2021.
Today, Dr. Dumalagan is also a faculty member at the Silliman University Medical School, where he continues to mentor future medical professionals. He has presented research at international neurosurgical conferences and remains active in professional societies such as the Academy of Filipino Neurosurgeons and the Negros Oriental Medical Society.
He enjoys biking, swimming, mountain climbing, and farming outside the operating room.
