About

The College of Agriculture emphasizes academic preparation with extensive community practice for leadership in the agriculture industry. Courses are geared toward understanding our society and developing competencies needed for making agricultural communities productive, sustainable, and financially viable. Silliman University College of Agriculture is a charter member of the Association of Colleges of Agriculture in the Philippines (ACAP).

The College offers degree programs in Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (majors in Animal Science and Agronomy), Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business, and Master of Science in Agriculture (majors in Agricultural Extension and Sustainable Agriculture. The Bachelor of Science programs are PAASCU accredited (level II).

Through a 10-year development program under the sponsorship of the Australian Universities International Development Program (AUIDP) that ended in June 1994, a new thrust in learning and teaching agriculture was developed. The Alternative Approach, a new curricular approach that emphasizes experiential learning and systems thinking and practice is now being implemented at Silliman University College of Agriculture.

The College of Agriculture utilizes an alternative approach to teaching and learning agriculture which emphasizes competency and issue-based learning. It seeks to develop among its learners the competencies of a technologist, independent learner, effective communicator, problem-solver, and systems manager. It is envisioned that graduates with such competencies can effectively cope with real-world problems. The college has produced topnotchers in the Licensure Examination for Agriculturists (LEA). Under CHED Memorandum Order Nos. 18 and 32 Series of 2009 and CHED Memorandum Order No. 25, Series of 2010, the Silliman University College of Agriculture was designated as one of the country’s National Universities/ Colleges of Agriculture and Fisheries (NUCAFs) representing Region VII.

Agribusiness

Silliman University (SU) College of Agriculture is now accepting applications for Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness for SY 2026-2027.

Qualified applicants may proceed with the enrollment procedures through the Silliman University Application Portal: aris.su.edu.ph/admission.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

A. Incoming Freshmen

  1. Senior High School (SHS) graduates from all strands
  2. A General Average of at least 80% with no grades below 80% in all subjects

NOTE: Applicants who meet the above requirements are automatically accepted as regular first-year students. However, those with grades below 80% in any subject will have an on-probation status.

B. Shiftees

  1. Cumulative Quality Point Average (CQPA) of at least 2.0
  2. Shiftees who fall short of the 2.0 CQPA will be accepted on probation.

NOTE: The student can only be in OP status for two (2) consecutive semesters. After two (2) consecutive semesters, the student will be advised to shift to another degree.

C. Transferees

  1. Transcript of Records (TOR) and a complete description of agriculture courses taken
  2. CQPA below 2.0 will be accepted on probation NOTE: For transferees from non-PAASCU or non-ACSCU accredited universities and whose grades in any major subject fall below 2.0, applicants must retake the said major course(s).
  3. Validation exams for major subjects may be administered if deemed necessary by the Faculty Adviser or the Dean.
  4. Only first-year and second-year core courses found in the Agriculture/Agribusiness curriculum will be considered for advanced credits.
  5. Students from schools or universities outside the Philippines must be evaluated by the Faculty Adviser or the Dean for advanced credits.

D. Second Coursers

  1. Non-K to 12 second coursers must take all General Education courses

REQUIREMENTS FOR RETENTION

  1. The minimum grade requirement for a student to proceed to the next core or major course and/or semester is 2.0.
  2. The student needs to maintain a CQPA of 2.0 to remain in the program, graduate, and earn the degree. CQPA is calculated every semester.
  3. A student who fails a professional course twice will be advised to shift to:
    1. other programs of the College if the major course they failed in is exclusive to that program/degree
    2. other colleges if the major course they failed in is common to all other programs/degrees offered by the College.
