Vision
To become the leading institution in the region in providing quality medical education committed to produce competent physicians who are guided by Christian principles in the provision of excellent health care.
Mission
To produce medical graduates [a] who can excel in any of the responsible roles as health providers, teachers, researchers, administrators, and social mobilizers in the Philippine health care system; [b] who possess the necessary skills for a lifelong and self-directed learning; and [c] whose caring, compassion and social consciousness emphasize the quality of such education.
Philosophy
This medical education is committed to the development of physicians who maintain and promote the health of the community in line with changing medical needs and demands of the time in the pursuit of medical excellence.
Silliman University’s medical education is also committed to the development of educators who foster a student-centered learning process, who can upgrade such medical education, and who can serve as student models. The development of quality Christian education – as spelled out in the objectives of the School – is a commitment to excellence in the next millennium.
Objectives
- To develop knowledgeable professionals who can define and manage the health problems of the patient, the family and the community.
- To nurture the creative thinking skills and problem-solving abilities of medical students.
- To master the strategies for case analysis in a multi-disciplinary setting.
- To encourage student resourcefulness in data gathering and interpretation.
- To foster leadership capabilities among the students as well as enhance their active participation in a team of health care providers.
- To encourage students into a lifelong and self-directed learning.
- To inculcate in students the feelings of sensitivity, empathy and compassion in dealing with patients, relatives and colleagues in the health profession.
- To promote ethical and moral values in the studentry.
- To develop the students’ capability to use the holistic approach to patient care.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a holder of any baccalaureate degree with GWAG (General Weighted Average Grade) of at least 85% or its equivalent (for SU graduate, at least 2.5 QPA). Applicant must have taken the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) with percentile rank of 60 or above with the validity of two (2) years. Application of qualified students must be submitted to the Medical School starting March 2023 (thru e-mail [email protected]). Deadline of submission is extended to July 31, 2023, 5:00 p.m.
- Must submit to the Medical School the following requirements as scanned copies from the original file (List can be viewed at su.edu.ph under ‘Registrar & Admissions – Admission Procedures’):

- Duly accomplished Application Form with latest passport-size picture (can be downloaded from the University website su.edu.ph under ‘Registrar & Admissions – Admission Procedures’)
- Official Transcript of Records showing completion of a degree course and GWAG (General Weighted Average Grade) of at least 85% or its equivalent (for SU graduate, at least 2.5 QPA). Attach an Honorable Dismissal/Transfer Credential if not a graduate of Silliman University.
*For graduate of private schools, the transcript of record is validated by a Special Order from CHED. While graduate of public schools, authenticated copy of diploma or certificate of graduation must be presented. - Certificate of percentage equivalent of GWAG (General Weighted Average Grade) of 85% or above from the Registrar’s Office if not a graduate of Silliman University
- NMAT Official Result with percentile rank of 60 or above (Secure 2 original copies – 1 for SU and 1 for personal file for PRC Board Exam use)
*This must be the official copy of the result which they mail to the examinees. The electronic copy of NMAT result will NOT be accepted. - Certificates of recommendation from two (2) professors in college

*Only those with COMPLETE requirements will be evaluated. The deadline of submission is extended to July 31, 2023, 5:00 p.m.
- Must undergo an interview with the Admissions Committee as soon as requirements for admission are complied.
A Face-to-Face interview will be conducted for residents within Negros Oriental. On the other hand, residents outside Negros Oriental will have an online interview.
- The following students are not encouraged to apply:

- NMAT less than 60 percentile rank and GWAG of less than 85 percent
- No NMAT result
- Those who failed in another medical school
- Application for lateral entry in any year level
- The decision of the Admissions Committee is final and the applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application after the interview.

- NMAT result validity is two (2) years only
- Age limit for applicants is 40 yrs. Old
PSYCHOLOGICAL TEST PROCEDURE
- Kindly pay the Psychological Testing Fee of Three Hundred Fifty Pesos (Php 350.00) at the Business and Finance Office.
- Bring the official receipt to the Guidance and Testing Center, 3rd Floor Oriental Hall for the test scheduling.
- Your test results can be claimed as soon as it becomes available.
