Technical, Educational, Vocational and Entrepreneurial Center
Academic Unit Information

The Silliman University Technical, Educational, Vocational, and Entrepreneurial Center (SU TEVEC), formerly the School of Agro-Industrial and Technical Education (SAITE), was established in September 2013 with the aim of providing specialized certificate programs in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), a government agency that deals with the country’s technical vocational education and skills development.
SU TEVEC “provides young and adult learners with opportunities to acquire skills, knowledge, and values for employability and lifelong learning in accordance with the opportunities and needs for local and national development.”
Under the leadership of Dr. Pablito Dela Rama, then dean, and Blanchie Utzurrum, who served as its secretary, SAITE initially offered three certificate programs: Certificate in Animal Production NCII, Certificate in Horticulture NCII, and Call Center Services NCII. Over time, the center expanded its offerings to include seven other programs under Dr. Chuchi S. Montenegro’s direction, becoming an accredited assessment center for various qualifications.
In January 2022, it was rebranded to SU TEVEC to reflect its integration into Silliman University, broadening its scope to nine programs across different fields. In the following year, Blanchie Utzurrum was installed as head of the center.
Initially part of the Office of Community Engagement and Service-Learning, SU TEVEC was later realigned under the Vice President of Academic Affairs in November 2023 (now Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research), reaffirming its commitment to vocational training for underserved communities. Rooted in UNICEF’s vocational education principles, SU TEVEC equips learners with practical skills and competencies essential for career success, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for the demands of the labor market.
Today, SU TEVEC offers thirteen (13) Registered Programs under the Unified TVET Program Registration and Accreditation System (UTPRAS) with TESDA, 3 Mobile Training Programs, 5 Programs on Accelerating Farm School Establishment, and boasts as an Accredited Assessment Center for ten (10) programs.
