Silliman University Appoints Dr. Mae Brigitt Bernadel L. Villordon as OIC of Internationalization Office

Silliman University (SU) has designated Dr. Mae Brigitt Bernadel L. Villordon as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Internationalization Office, providing leadership and coordination for the University’s internationalization initiatives and programs.

Dr. Villordon brings extensive academic and administrative experience to the role. She served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) from 2018 to 2025, following her tenure as Associate Dean from 2016 to 2018. She also served as Interim Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs in 2024 and Assistant to the President for Institutional Affairs in 2025.

An associate professor in the Biology Department, Dr. Villordon has been a faculty member of Silliman University since 2002. She holds a Master of Public Health and earned her Ph.D. in Automatique, Traitement du Signal et des Images from the Université de Nice, France, in 2014, graduating Très Honorable, the university’s highest academic distinction. Her dissertation and academic work span microbiology, public health, and related interdisciplinary areas, and she has contributed to educational reform initiatives as a national trainer.

Her leadership development and international experience include participation in the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UBCHEA) leadership program. In 2017, she attended a month-long leadership course at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and later spent two months at Hong Kong Baptist University, where she focused on Whole Person Education.

Dr. Villordon has also been actively involved in professional organizations. She has served as Vice President of the Philippine Academic Consortium for Public Health, Treasurer of the Council of CAS Deans Region 7, and Visayas Representative for the Microbiology Consortium of the Philippines.

As OIC of the Internationalization Office, Dr. Villordon will oversee and coordinate initiatives involving international academic partnerships and linkages, student and faculty mobility, international and intercultural engagement, and international student services and integration, as well as other programs that advance the integration of international and intercultural dimensions into the University’s academic and institutional functions.

Her designation supports Silliman University’s continuing efforts to strengthen its international engagement consistent with CHED Memorandum Order No. 55, Series of 2016, or the Policy Framework and Strategies on the Internationalization of Philippine Higher Education.

Dr. Villordon will work closely with the University’s academic and administrative units and external partners to ensure that internationalization initiatives are aligned with institutional priorities and applicable CHED policies and standards.
