Silliman University is hiring an associate attorney for its Legal and Compliance Division beginning in January 2025.

Job Description

The Associate Attorney provides legal services (litigation and preventive lawyering) in line with the mandate of the Office of the General Counsel (Legal and Compliance Division).
They will report directly to the University Chief Legal Counsel.

Qualifications

a. Knowledge of all laws of the Philippines and generally accepted principles of international law
b. Speaking, writing, litigation, conciliation-mediation, ICT skills
c. Bachelor of Laws / Juris Doctor
d. Membership in the Philippine Bar
e. Latest MCLE Compliance
f. Experience in Litigation/legal aid

Key Responsibilities

a. Provide legal and compliance support on assigned Units as well as associated or supplementary Unit to mitigate legal risks and ensure legal compliance;
b. Be a member or represent the office in University/CBA-related committees;
c. Be a member of investigatory bodies such as the Personnel Committee, Disciplinary Panel, University Disciplinary Board, Committee on Decorum and Investigation, and other committees that may be formed by the President/University;
d. Prepare and file pleadings, review and notarize contracts and documents; prepare a wide variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written references, conveying information, and/or supporting presentations concerning policy and procedure changes;
e. Participate in grievance conferences and represent the Administration in the Labor Management Council, collective bargaining negotiations, and other labor relations matters;
f. Manage, track, and keep a record of cases and legal matters involving the University.
