SU and DOST-PCIEERD unveil historic microgrid laboratory

Silliman University (SU) and the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) officially launched the Microgrid and Sustainable Energy Laboratory (MSEL) on August 20, 2025, at the College of Engineering and Design (CED).

This DOST-funded facility, located at Uytengsu Hall, serves as a hub for research, training, and innovation in renewable energy, supporting the design and development of smart microgrid systems that can provide clean, reliable power even in off-grid areas.

Dr. Maria Lorena L. Tuballa, immediate past dean of the CED, serves as the MSEL project leader.
