SU appoints Dr. Warlito S. Caturay Jr. as OIP director

Silliman University (SU) appointed Dr. Warlito S. Caturay Jr. as director of the Office of Information and Publications (OIP), effective August 1, 2023.

Before this appointment, Caturay was the associate dean of the SU College of Arts and Sciences from February to May 2023.

Since 2001, he has been teaching applied linguistics, writing, and basic communication courses as a faculty member of the English and Literature Department and served as the department’s chairperson from 2014 to 2016 and from 2022 to 2023.

In 2007, Caturay became a scholar of the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program and was assigned at the Kababayan Language Community of Skyline Community College in San Bruno, California, USA.

He also served as workshop coordinator for the 59th SU National Writers Workshop. He has been the editor of Silliman Journal since 2019.

Caturay graduated from SU with a Bachelor of Mass Communication degree, magna cum laude,  in 2001 and a Master of Arts in English, Major in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages in 2007. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in English Language Teaching from Assumption University, Thailand in 2019.
