In a gathering of private elementary school honor students and student leaders across the country, Silliman University (SU) Elementary School bagged major prizes in the four (4) highly competitive categories during the recently concluded Association of Philippine Private School Administrators and Mentors (APPSAM) 11th National Children’s Assembly and Talent Fair held in Baguio City, on January 25-27, 2024.

Aalliyah Kate D. Encabo won 1st Place in Interpretive Reading and 2nd Place in Extemporaneous Speaking, Adriel Wade D. Rivera won 2nd Place in the Mathematics Contest, and Denmarie F. Batarasa won 3rd Place in Madamdaming Pagbasa.

“This was SUES’ first time joining a national congress and competition after the pandemic, so it
was a great joy for me to see my students participate and excel outside the classroom,” Harel Jo I. Tia, coach, said of her students.

“It was definitely an experience of a lifetime for them, something they wouldn’t get inside the four walls of a classroom,” she added.

SUES participated in eight events, including the Mathematics Contest, Science Contest, General
Information, Spelling, Essay Writing, Extemporaneous Speaking, Interpretative Reading, and
Madamdaming Pagbasa.
