SU faculty members present paper at int’l conference

Dr. Joan C. Generoso, chairperson of the Department of English and Literature at Silliman University, and Assistant Professor Ronelaine B. Picardal presented their study at the 5th International Conference and 2025 NOTED Annual National Convention, held on September 26–28, 2025, at the Malberry Suites Business Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City.

With the theme “From Vision to Reality: Strengthening Pathways to Quality Education and the Other Sustainable Development Goals,” the conference gathered educators, researchers, and experts to share insights on how education can drive sustainable development.

Generoso and Picardal’s study, “Exploring Foreign Language Anxiety in Silliman University’s English Orientation Program,” examined the levels and nature of foreign language anxiety (FLA) among international students in the program, focusing on communication apprehension, test anxiety, and fear of negative evaluation.

By contributing to the conference dialogue on Quality Education (SDG 4) and learner well-being, their work underscores the importance of addressing emotional and psychological dimensions of language learning in higher education (SDG 3).

The participation of SU faculty in this international forum reflects the university’s continuing commitment to advancing research that enhances learner engagement and supports inclusive, globally responsive education.
