SU hosts 2020/2021 Bar Exams

Silliman University (SU) starts to host today the 2020 and 2021 two-day Bar Examinations after the Supreme Court chose the institution as one of the testing centers of the said activity.

Dr. Betty Cernol-McCann, SU president, said “This is a historic first.  To the Board of Trustees, this is a show of confidence in the capacity of Silliman University to provide the needed human resource pool, physical facilities, and technological infrastructure required for the 2020 and 2021 bar examinations.”

Dr. McCann added that “more than anything, being chosen as a testing center, is an act of service to the nation, the Supreme Court, and the examinees at this time of the pandemic.”

Dr. McCann is confident that the selection of SU to host this year’s Bar Examinations also signals licensure examination agencies that the university is willing to host and able to host similar events in the near future.

As part of the preparation, beginning yesterday, February 3 (Thursday) and up to February 6 (Sunday), only examinees and personnel authorized by the Supreme Court will be allowed to enter the Langheim road gate near Katipunan Hall.

Direct pedestrian access to the testing site from within the campus is also not permitted. Security barriers are placed at the junction in front of Barry Thompson Hall.

Campus residents, and university personnel who work outside of the bar exam security perimeter, are allowed to pass and exit through the Laguna gate.

Everyone is directed to have their identification cards ready in the event security personnel will require them. University security personnel will be on-site to assist.

Hibbard Avenue starting at Katada road junction up to Channon gate will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic on February 4 and 6, 2022 (Friday and Sunday).

To the Bar Examinees, good luck and Godspeed.
