SU-Lao ICI Lab organizes activities for 121st Founders Day

The Silliman University (SU) Mariano Lao Innovation, Creation, and Invention (ICI) Laboratory invites students in Negros Oriental to join its lineup of contests and activities, organized to celebrate SU’s 121st Founders Day.

The Laboratory, with its benefactor Dr. Mariano C. Lao, organized friendly and academic-oriented competitions which are the Inter-Senior High School (SHS) Quiz Bowl on “Fighting Misinformation, Disinformation, and Mal-information on Social Media” on August 25, 2022; and On-the-Spot Poster-Making and On-the-Spot Hand-Painting contests on August 26, 2022.

Schools in the Division of Negros Oriental are encouraged to join by sending participants to the in-person competitions at the Dr. Mariano Lao ICI Laboratory, located at the Junior High School, Silliman University.

The Laboratory also invites junior high school (JHS) and SHS students to the open house on August 23 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. The open house will showcase the Laboratory’s existing facilities, research, and development involvements.

The awarding of the Mariano Lao Excellence in Online Teaching Award and the Excellence in Online Learning Award is also part of the Laboratory’s activities for the 121st Founders Day.

The Excellence in Online Teaching Award recognizes SU teachers who exemplify a high standard of online teaching in the university. This award aims to recognize full-time faculty of any rank for their passion and a strong commitment to quality online teaching. The award categories include the college or SHS teacher category; and the early childhood, elementary, or JHS teacher category. The recipient of the award will receive Php 50,000.

The Excellence in Online Learning Award, on the other hand, recognizes SU students who exemplify a high standard of online learning in the university. This award aims to recognize students for their resiliency, hard work, and commitment to online distance learning. The recipient of this award will receive Php 20,000.
