SU OCESL to spearhead community outreach for National Women’s Month 2024
Silliman University (SU), through the Office of Community Engagement and Service-Learning (OCESL), is organizing a Community Health Outreach on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Silliman University Marina Mission Clinic (SUMMC) in Dauin, Negros Oriental.
The program is dedicated to providing medical and health services to 300 women and children from the Dauin community, with services that include medical check-ups, dental services, and clinical laboratory testing, all aimed at contributing to the health and well-being of community members.
In collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Dauin, Silliman University Medical Center Foundation Inc. (SUMCFI), SUCCI Multipurpose Cooperative Inc., Knights of Rizal – Dumaguete City Chapter, and various academic units within the university, OCESL has arranged for a comprehensive range of services during the outreach.
The College of Nursing will offer health education, the Institute of Clinical Laboratory Sciences will conduct clinical laboratory testing, the Institute of Rehabilitative Sciences will provide community-based rehabilitation and exercise sessions, and the Nutrition and Dietetics Department will offer nutrition and diet counseling. Aside from these medical services, the Dr. Salonga Center for Law and Development will also host a legal clinic. All of these services will be provided free of charge to the residents of Dauin.
The Community Health Outreach comes after the success of the previous Community Health Outreach held on December 17, 2023, which benefitted 274 community members and children in Dauin.
