SU Scouts join Asia-Pacific Jamboree, earn top Scout honors

Five Scouts from Silliman University (SU) took part in the 33rd Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Jamboree held from December 14 to 21, 2025, at Camp Kainomayan in Botolan, Zambales, joining thousands of young Scouts from across the Asia-Pacific region in one of the largest international Scouting events under the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM).
Representing the Silliman University Scouting Movement and the Negros-Oriental Siquijor Council, the SU contingent included Eagle Scout Dale Andrew Dy of the College of Engineering and Design; Venturer Scout Marc Nathaniel Batulan of Senior High School; Venturer Scout Jason Godsent Acosta; and Explorer Scouts Raphael Salvoro and Lance Guian A. Ozoa, both from Junior High School. They were part of a 19-member delegation accompanied by five adult leaders.
The jamboree aimed to promote world brotherhood, peace, leadership, and cultural understanding through a large-scale, modular program designed for holistic Scout development. Activities were organized into four thematic villages aligned with global goals, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Village 1, Sanlibutan (One Planet), focused on environmental stewardship through activities such as water filtration, plastic upcycling, biodiversity identification, and climate action pledges.
Sangkatauhan (One People) highlighted unity and leadership with intercultural exchanges, advocacy crafts, cooperative games, and symbolic activities like the Tree of Hope.
Sanlakas (One Power) emphasized self-reliance and resilience through survival skills training, emergency response drills, and high-adventure obstacle courses.
Sangdangal (One Pride) celebrated Scouting heritage and cultural identity through traditional arts, indigenous writing, cultural dances, and lessons on national heroes.
In addition to the village modules, the jamboree featured major events, including the Jambo Festival of cultural presentations, Scout Rally arena shows, native Filipino games, street dancing, rappelling, wall climbing, and community service hikes to remote Aeta communities.
A highlight of the international gathering was the National Court of Honor for Eagle Scouts, where SU Scout Dale Andrew Dy received his certification of achievement and the Eagle Scout medal. Meanwhile, Scouts Batulan and Acosta attained the rank of Venturer Scout, the second-highest rank in the World Organization of the Scout Movement.
