SU TEVEC produces 25 graduates of Organic Agriculture Production NC II

The Silliman University Technical Educational Vocational and Entrepreneurial Center (SU TEVEC) produced 25 Organic Agriculture Production NC II graduates during its 39th SU TEVEC Graduation Ceremony on August 19, 2025, at the Multipurpose Room (MPR).

Categorized by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) under the Agriculture and Fishery Sector, the Organic Agriculture Production NC II qualification encompasses the set of skills required to produce organic farm products, including vegetables and poultry, as well as organic supplements such as fertilizers, concoctions, and extracts. It also offers two elective competencies: organic hog raising and organic small ruminant raising.

Speaking on behalf of Dr. Betty Cernol McCann, SU president, Dr. Jose Edwin C. Cubelo, SU Office of the President officer-in-charge and College of Agriculture dean, spoke of TEVEC’s longstanding commitment to providing “quality technical and vocational education” in partnership with TESDA since 2013, when it was then called School of Agro-Industrial and Technical Education (SAITE).

“Our goal is clear: to equip learners with skills, knowledge, and values for employability, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning, all in response to the needs of our community and the nation,” Cubelo explained in his welcome message.

He also challenged all 25 graduates to “innovate and create opportunities for yourself, your families, and for others.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Pepito F. Piral, TESD Specialist 1, who represented TESDA Negros Oriental Provincial Director Joel M. Villagracia at the ceremony, reiterated that completing the Organic Agriculture Production NC II course is “more than an academic achievement. It is a commitment to protect our soil, our health, and our environment.”

He explained that this course not only teaches graduates to produce crops without chemicals but also about “respecting the values of nature, valuing hard work, and choosing the path that benefits both our farmers and our consumers.”

Piral also urged the graduates to become agents of change.

“The world needs farmers and entrepreneurs like you [who] believe in healthy food, clean farming practices, and resilient communities. Remember: every compost you make, every single plant, and every organic product you produce is a step toward a better tomorrow,” he added.
