SU to honor 8 Outstanding Sillimanians on 124th Founders Day

The Silliman University Board of Trustees, upon the recommendation of the Silliman Alumni Association, Inc. (SAAI), will confer the Outstanding Sillimanian Award (OSA) to eight alumni.

They are:

  • Dr. Rolando O. Borrinaga, in the field of Cultural History
  • Dr. Janamitra Devan, in the field of International Development Economics
  • Dr. Joel A. Gamo, in the field of Medical Education
  • Dr. Rose Mila A. Cipres-Jaucian, in the field of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
  • Carla P. Gomez, in the field of Community Journalism
  • Dr. Anabelle A. Cunanan-Locsin, in the field of Nursing Professional Development (Gerontology, Geriatric Nursing, and Infectious Prevention & Control)
  • Dr. Eva Washburn-Repollo, in the field of Education, Culture, and the Arts
  • Atty. Riza Faith C. Ybanez, in the field of Global Business Ethics

Additional details on each awardee will be released later. Formal conferment of the OSA will be held at the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium on August 28, 2025.

Since 1962, when the first awards were given, 188 outstanding alumni have been conferred the Outstanding Sillimanian Award. Nominees submitted by alumni chapters are screened by three committees to recommend candidates for approval by the SU Board of Trustees.
