SU to host ACSCU’s 80th Founding Anniversary, 64th National Convention

Silliman University (SU) is set to host the 80th Founding Anniversary and 64th National Convention of the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities (ACSCU) on May 11–13, 2026, bringing together Christian educators and institutional leaders from across the country under the theme, “80 Years of God’s Grace Educating for Christlike Character, Transformation and Hope.”

Serving as lead school for the ACSCU Visayas Schools covering Regions 6, 7, 8, and the Negros Island Region, Silliman University will host the three-day convention in key campus venues, including the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium, the Silliman University Church, and the Uytengsu Transformative Learning Center.

The convention will open with a plenary session led by Dr. Betty Cernol McCann, who also serves as president of ACSCU and chairperson of COCOPEA. McCann is also set to deliver the opening worship message during the anniversary program.

The gathering will feature discussions on pressing concerns in Philippine education, including basic education reforms, tertiary education concerns, legislative developments, and technical-vocational education updates.

Highlighting the event are keynote and plenary speakers from the education sector and partner organizations. Delivering the keynote address is Dr. Jerome T. Buenviaje, assistant secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd). Other featured speakers include Dr. Ebenezer A. Beloy, DepEd’s assistant secretary for Curriculum and Teaching; Dr. Rhodora Angela Fernandez-Ferrer, executive director of Private Education Assistance Committee; Atty. Septon Dela Cruz, executive director of UNIFAST; Dr. Karol Mark Yee, executive direrector of EDCOM II; and Fr. Onofre Inocencio Jr., UNiTVET president.

The event highlights SU’s continuing leadership in Christian higher education and its longstanding engagement with national educational and ecumenical organizations.
