SU welcomes CHED – NIR Office

Silliman University (SU) President Dr. Betty Cernol McCann attended the inauguration of the Commission of Higher Education Regional Office for Negros Island Region (CHEDRO-NIR) on January 10, 2024 at the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU).

Situated on the NORSU Bajumpandan campus, the newly established CHEDRO-NIR is set to provide essential frontline services, with a primary focus on implementing CHED policies and programs across higher education institutions (HEIs) in this newly formed administrative region. CHEDRO NIR oversees a total of 85 HEIs, distributed across three provinces: 57 in Negros Occidental, 24 in Negros Oriental, and 4 in Siquijor.

The event was graced by key leaders, including CHED Chairperson Dr. Prospero de Vera, Dumaguete City Mayor Atty. Felipe Antonio Remollo, CHED Commissioners Dr. Shirley Agrupis and Dr. Ronald Adamat, and CHEDRO-NIR Regional Director Raul C. Alvarez Jr.
