SUCN brings Christmas cheer to PDLs at Dumaguete City District Jail

The Silliman University College of Nursing (SUCN) held a Christmas outreach for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Dumaguete City District Jail on December 22, 2025, bringing holiday cheer to both the male and female dormitories of the facility.
Conducted in coordination with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Region VII, the activity served 120 male PDLs in the morning and 25 female PDLs in the afternoon at the jail compound in Barangay Bajumpandan.
The outreach highlighted the meaning of the Christmas season and sought to affirm PDLs who have limited contact with their families, reminding them that they are remembered and valued. The program included prayers, brief messages, interactive activities, and the distribution of snacks and gifts, funded through donations from SUCN faculty, staff, alumni, students, and community partners.
During the afternoon session, female PDLs helped host the program, sharing performances, personal stories, and messages of gratitude. Organizers also purchased livelihood products made by the female PDLs in support of their income-generating initiatives inside the facility.
SUCN is set to evaluate the outreach and consider continuing the activity as an annual Christmas initiative.
