
SUES pupil earns Merit Award in International Talent Mathematics Contest

A Grade 3 pupil of Silliman University Elementary School (SUES) earned a Merit Award in the International Talent Mathematics Contest (ITMC) 2026, held on March 3, 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Jose Earl Jr. G. Racal was among the young mathletes who represented the Philippine delegation in the international competition, which gathered participants from Thailand, Iran, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Brazil. The contest, conducted by invitation, aims to cultivate mathematical talent among young students through rigorous problem-solving challenges.
Racal competed in the Grade 3 category, which featured a preliminary round consisting of 30 multiple-choice questions focusing on arithmetic and number properties. The event brought together participants across grade levels, each tested on their analytical and computational skills.
The competition concluded with a Gala Dinner and Award Presentation, recognizing outstanding performances across categories.
The International Talent Mathematics Contest serves as a platform for young learners to develop their mathematical abilities while engaging with peers from different parts of the world.
