The Scranton Women’s Leadership Center (SWLC) is excited to invite participants to its newly expanded Essay and Short Film Contest. This year, the SWLC is introducing a short film category alongside its annual essay contest, offering a new platform to express creativity and ideas about women’s leadership.
A. Essay Contest:
Participants will explore the theme, “AI and Women’s Leadership,” reflecting on how artificial intelligence can empower women leaders, transform leadership practices, or address issues of gender equality. They are also encouraged to explore the challenges of AI, including algorithmic biases, ethical issues, and digital divides. Whatever aspect of AI the participants choose to write about, it is essential that their unique voice and perspective as Asian women are clearly reflected in the work, highlighting their story and insights.
B. Short Film Contest:
Participants are invited to showcase the theme, “Women’s Leadership: Inspiring Women and Changing Community.” This contest celebrates the stories of women who lead with courage, inspire others, and drive meaningful change in communities. Participants are also encouraged to share stories from their own lives or those of people around them, highlighting real experiences that demonstrate the transformative power of women’s leadership. It is essential that they incorporate their perspective as Asian women to enrich the theme with their unique context and story.
Individual Winners:
If you are selected as a winner, you will be recognized as a Scranton Scholar for 2025, receiving a full year’s tuition scholarship. Additionally, you will be awarded a US$500 scholarship for school-related expenses, such as fees, books, or housing. Both scholarships will be sent directly to your school on your behalf.
Team Projects:
If your essay or film involves collaboration between faculty and students as part of an ongoing team project, your team will receive US$2,000 to support the project’s development. This prize will also be sent directly to your school.
