Two Personnel Receive United Board Scholarship for Studies Abroad

A member of the faculty and another from the Administration are among this year’s recipients of scholarships for higher studies abroad from the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia.

Former English Department Chairperson Asst. Prof. Warlito S. Caturay Jr. is now at Assumption University in Bangkok, Thailand to pursue his Doctor of Philosophy in English Language Teaching, a three-year program.

Director of the Office of Information and Publications Mr. Mark Raygan E. Garcia will leave this month for Hong Kong for the degree of Master of Public Policy and Governance (with Social Policy as specialization) from the Education University of Hong Kong at Tai Po. His program runs for one year.

Assistant Professor Caturay studies under the banner Faculty Scholarship Program of the United Board, while Mr. Garcia is among the first three recipients of the Scholarship for Advanced Studies in Asia, a collaboration between the United Board and the Commission on Higher Education of the Philippine government.

Sending faculty for further studies in reputable universities in the Philippines and abroad is among the University’s priorities under its Faculty and Staff Development Program. It is a move that optimizes professional opportunities for its personnel over the same period when education reforms are in effect.
