Interdisciplinary Project on Climate Resiliency of Riverside Communities Receive P1.8M Grant

The Oscar M. Lopez Center for Climate Change and Adaptation and Disaster Risk Management Foundation, Inc. (OML Center) awarded the 2017 Resilience Grant to Silliman University, during its fifth anniversary celebration held in Makati late last year.

Amounting to P1.8 million, the grant to Silliman will fund an interdisciplinary project that aims at developing tools to understanding resiliency and vulnerability of riverside communities. The project is headed Dr. Jorge Emmanuel, an adjunct professor in the University.

The OML Center seeks out grant recipients with innovative ideas that create localized and impact-driven knowledge and tools for climate change adaption and disaster risk management in the Philippines.

Together with Dr. Jorge from Silliman during the awarding was Graduate Programs Dean Dr. Enrique G. Oracion. They received the award from officers of the OML Center: founder Mr. Oscar M. Lopez, president Mr. Richard Tantoco, board members Mr. Jonathan Russell and Mr. Arturo Valdez, executive director Ms Marianne Quebral, and scientific director Dr. Rodel Lasco.
