Call for Donations for Flood Victims in Bayawan City
Issue Date: 7 October 2013
Thousands were evacuated yesterday during the flooding in Bayawan City. Many are left homeless and hundreds continue to be in evacuation centers today.
Silliman University is appealing to all Sillimanians and the public to donate either in cash or in kind for our brothers and sisters who have been affected by the flood. Preferred are canned goods, noodles, rice, biscuits and other essential food items.
Please course your donations through the Silliman University Church which is coordinating with the local United Church of Christ in the Philippines in Bayawan City for distribution of relief goods to the community. The SU Church can be contacted at (035) 422-6002 local 340, or (035) 422-8133.
Our Crisis Response and Management Team is deploying today a group that will bring the University’s initial donation and help augment continuing relief operations. We had sent yesterday the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Unit but our team had to return due to impassable roads.
Let us join hands in prayer for the fast recovery of our brothers and sisters in Bayawan City.
