AFP Deputy Chief of Staff Graces ROTC Event, Awards Medals
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) appointed into its Reserved Force three from Silliman University: a Social Studies instructor at the High School Department, a professor at the College of Law and a graduate from the College of Nursing.
All three were awarded their respective medals and ranks during the Ceremonial Parade and Review and the Annual Presentation of Sponsors held September 28.
Guest of honor was Major General Marlou L. Salazar, Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservists and Retirees Affairs of the AFP.
Mr. McDiery A. Concepcion, who teaches Social Studies and handles Citizen Advancement Training for seniors at the High School Department, was inducted into the Corps of Professors of the Reserved Force, effective September 1.
Judge Rafael Crescencio Tan, Jr. who holds an equivalent military rank of Major and is the Assistant Commandant of the Reserved Officers Training Corps (ROTC) unit of Silliman University, was conferred the Military Merit Award. He was appointed into the Corps of Engineers of the Reserved Force. He is the presiding judge of Branch 30 of the Regional Trial Court in Dumaguete and is concurrently a lecture of law at Silliman.
A registered nurse is the third recipient of the award from the AFP. Ms Vida Natalia Y. Villegas was given the rank of Second Lieutenant in the Nurse Corps. She graduated from Silliman with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2008.
The ROTC unit of Silliman University is among the country's best. It consistently rakes in top awards in annual tactical inspections.
