Officials at ACUCA Community Engagement Confab in Taiwan
Silliman University attended the Management Conference of the Association of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia on November 1 to 3 hosted by Fu Jen Catholic University in New Taipei, Taiwan.
The conference theme, “University Community Engagement and Cooperation in the Asian Context”, revolved around the role of academic institutions in developing social consciousness, a sense of community and a strong faith perspective within their students.

Representing the University were Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Betsy B. Tan, Vice President for Development Prof. Jane Annette L. Belarmino, Director of the Office of Information and Publications Mr. Mark Raygan E. Garcia, and College of Law professor and Assistant ROTC Commandant Judge Crescencio C. Tan, Jr.
In attendance were around 100 officials and key staff representing higher education institutions from a total of eight countries: Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand.
The Conference also paved the way for the finalization of a formal agreement between Silliman University and Kwansei Gakuin University in Japan. It also facilitated a commitment to revisit and reinforce the earlier partnership with Soongsil University in Korea, and a potential partnership with Keimyung University also in Korea.
