Silliman Produces 95 New Licensed Teachers

Silliman University registered passing percentages higher than the national passing rates in the recent 2013 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). 

The Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) announced that only 19,384 elementary teachers out of 62,160 examinees and only 25,755 secondary teachers out of 64,792 examinees successfully passed the LET administered September 29.

Of the country's new licensed teachers, a total of 95 are from Silliman: 33 elementary teachers and 62 secondary teachers. This translates to passing rates higher than the national passing percentages: 93.94 per cent for elementary (national passing rate: 31.18 per cent) and 75.81 per cent for secondary (national passing rate: 39.75 per cent).

A list of all new licensed teachers from Silliman will be released on the website as soon as the same is furnished to the University by the PRC.

Silliman is a Center of Excellence in Teacher Education, the highest distinction granted by the Commission on Higher Education in recognition of an academic program's strength in the areas of instruction, research, extension and facilities.
