CELTA Joins Autism Consciousness Week Celebration
Cooking and art classes were two of the fun activities in store for kids in the booths of the Center of Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Assessment (CELTA) during the celebration of 18th National Autism Consciousness Week held January 19 to 26.
Special Education majors of the College of Education (COE) lined up different activities on January 19 at the City Central Elementary School. An “Angels Walk for Autism” set the mood in the first half of the morning, followed by “Viva la Fiesta! Fun, Food and Games!” for both pupils and children who have autism.
Silliman, through CELTA, which is the extension arm of COE, has been active in promoting higher public awareness of autism and the rights of persons with disability.
This year’s Autism Consciousness Week celebration was themed: “Katuparan ng mga Karapatan ng Pilipinong may Autismo: Isulong Mo, Ngayon Na!” CELTA partnered with the Autism Society Philippines-Dumaguete Chapter on its activities.
