Silliman Wins 2 Awards Against DLSU in Law Debate
A sophomore Juris Doctor major at the College of Law bagged two of the three awards in the Grand Law Debate between Silliman University College of Law and the De La Salle University (DLSU) College of Law on February 25 at the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium.
Silliman’s Gesta Riva Gamo was adjudged Best Debater and Best Speaker. She defended as practicability speaker the motion: “Resolved: That BIR Memorandum Order 20-2013 be declared unconstitutional for being violative of constitution tax exemption rights of education institutions.”
Best Rebuttal Speaker was Chantal Chua from DLSU.
Completing the team from Silliman were Jose Jello Cubello, Maria Carmela Caupayan and Abel Montejo. The other debaters from DLSU were Rene Pilapil, Jr., Karla Gutierrez and Oilie Haulo.
